Terms of Service

Last updated: October 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Marksman IQ ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a club or other organization, you agree to these terms for that organization.

2. Description of Service

Marksman IQ is a platform for youth BB gun and air rifle programs. It provides:

  • Study guides, quizzes, practice tests and flashcards based on the NRA BB Gun Rulebook and the Daisy Ten Lesson Curriculum
  • Target scoring: upload a photo of a fired target and receive an automated score that you can review and correct
  • Progress tracking, practice statistics and history
  • Club tools: rosters, practices, assignments, printable tests and optional public team pages
  • Tournaments: entries, teams, card submission, scoring review, challenges and published results

3. Accounts and Roles

Athletes

You must be at least 13 to create your own account. Athletes under 13 must have an account created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.

Parents

Parents may create and manage accounts for their children, and are responsible for supervising their children's use of the Service.

Coaches and club organizers

Club organizers create clubs and add staff, athletes, practices and targets. They are responsible for their club's use of the Service, as described in Section 4.

Tournament directors and staff

Tournament directors set up and run tournaments, and may add staff to help. They are responsible for running their tournaments fairly and as described in Section 5.

Helpers

A club may share a link that lets a helper upload and sort targets without an account. Helpers must use the link only for the club that shared it.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity under your account.

4. Club Responsibilities

If you manage a club on Marksman IQ, you agree that:

  • You have the permission of each athlete's parent or guardian (or of the athlete, if an adult) to add the athlete to your roster and to upload and score their targets, as your youth program would for any record it keeps about its athletes
  • You will publish a public team page only with the permission you confirm when you turn it on, and understand that an athlete appears on it only once they or their parent turn public results on
  • You will share your club's helper links only with people you trust to handle your athletes' targets
  • You will keep your roster accurate and remove athletes when asked by them or their parents

5. Tournaments

  • Each tournament is run by its director, who sets its rules, accepts entries and confirms scores.
  • Scores are provisional until the director confirms them. Challenges to a score go through the tournament's challenge process in the Service, and the director's ruling is final.
  • Final results are published when the director finalizes the match.
  • We provide the tools; we are not the organizer of any tournament and are not responsible for its rules, conduct or results.

6. Scores and Automated Results

Target scores and athlete-name suggestions are produced by automated systems and may contain errors — for example from photo quality, lighting or damaged targets. They are provided to help people score, not to replace them:

  • Review scores before relying on them. A score is only as final as the person who confirms it.
  • For competition, the official score is the one confirmed under the tournament's rules.
  • We are not responsible for decisions made on the basis of an unreviewed automated score.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You agree not to:

  • Share your account credentials or allow unauthorized access to your account
  • Upload anything other than photos of targets, or targets you are not permitted to upload
  • Manipulate scores, quizzes, tests or progress data, or misreport whose target a card is
  • Use automated tools, bots or scripts to access the Service
  • Attempt to access, probe or test the vulnerability of the Service or related systems
  • Copy, resell or distribute any part of the Service without written permission
  • Harass, abuse or harm other users

8. Your Content

You keep ownership of the photos, scores and other content you submit. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process and display that content to provide the Service — including showing it to the people described in our Privacy Policy — and to use target photos, scores and review corrections to develop and improve the Service, including the accuracy of our automated scoring and name matching.

This license ends when the content is deleted, except for content that is part of a club's or tournament's records or that we keep to improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Our Content

The study materials, questions and guides are based on the NRA BB Gun Rulebook and the Daisy Ten Lesson Curriculum and are for educational purposes only. The original published materials remain the authoritative source. You may not reproduce, distribute or create derivative works from our content without written permission, except for printable tests a club prints for its own athletes.

10. Fees and the Extended Beta

Study, quizzes and tests are free. Athletes and parents are never charged.

Club features, including team target scoring, are free while Marksman IQ is in extended beta. When the beta ends we plan to charge clubs $100 a year for team scoring, with an introductory price of $50 for the first year. We will give club organizers at least 90 days' notice before any charge, and nothing will be charged unless the club chooses to subscribe. Beta features may change, and we may add, change or remove features at any time.

11. Disclaimers

Marksman IQ is an educational and scoring tool only. It is NOT a substitute for proper firearms safety training conducted by qualified instructors.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. 12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Marksman IQ and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, goodwill or other intangible losses, resulting from:

  • Your access to, use of, or inability to use the Service
  • Any score or result, including the outcome of any match or tournament
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your content

13. Account Deletion and Termination

You may delete your account at any time in Account Settings; parents may delete their children's accounts. What is deleted and what is kept is described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for a breach of these terms, for fraudulent, abusive or illegal activity, or for conduct that harms other users or the Service.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give at least 30 days' notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
