How Marksman IQ Works

Everything you need to know about studying, practicing, and tracking your progress.

Study Guides

Study guides break NRA BB Gun rules into focused, bite-sized points organized by importance: Essential, Helpful, and Reference.

You can create your own study guides from any section, or your coach can assign them. As you quiz on the material, the guide tracks which points you've mastered and which need more work.

To get started, go to Study Guides and create one from any section, or tap "Start Quiz" on an existing guide to practice.

Practice Quizzes

Quizzes test your knowledge with true/false and multiple choice questions drawn from the NRA BB Gun Rulebook. You can take unlimited practice quizzes with no time limit.

The quiz engine is adaptive — it prioritizes questions on material you haven't seen yet or have gotten wrong before, so you spend more time on what matters.

After each question, you'll see the correct answer and an explanation. Your responses feed directly into your mastery tracking.

Flashcard mode lets you flip through questions one at a time for quick review.

Mastery Tracking

Every study point has a mastery level based on your quiz performance:

Not Seen Learning Familiar Mastered

To reach Mastered, answer 3 questions correctly in a row on that topic. Getting one wrong resets your streak. Mastery can decay after 30 days without review, so keep practicing.

Check your progress anytime at Mastery Progress.

Timed Tests

Tests simulate the real assessment: 50 questions in 30 minutes. Questions are randomly selected across all sections.

Unlike practice quizzes, you won't see explanations until after you submit. Your test history is tracked so you can see your improvement over time.

Ready? Go to Take a Test.

Score Target

Take a photo of your NRA BB gun target and Marksman IQ will automatically detect the holes and calculate your score.

After detection, you can review each bull, adjust scores if the computer got it wrong, add or remove holes, and drag holes to correct positions. Your scores are tracked by position (Prone, Standing, Sitting, Kneeling) so you can see where you need to improve.

Go to Score Target to try it.

Reporting Problems

Found a question with a wrong answer, confusing wording, or a bug? You can report it directly from the quiz results screen — just tap "Report" on any question.

Reports are reviewed by an admin and help us improve the question bank for everyone. You can track your submitted reports at My Reports.
