Parents' Night and Awards

The welcome address covers what students have learned during the past six weeks.

The address explains the carryover values of a lifetime sport.

Shooting is a lifetime sport. You can learn to shoot at a very young age and continue to enjoy shooting until you are very old.

Lifetime sports have no gender barrier. Girls enjoy shooting as much as boys.

Lifetime sports have no age barrier.

Lifetime sports have no physical ability barrier. You do not have to be big, strong, fast, or a star athlete to shoot and learn to be a good shooter.

Shooting is fun for everyone.

Students demonstrate what they have learned during the past six lessons.

Topics demonstrated include: parts of a gun, types of shotguns, types of rifles, shotgun gauges.

Topics demonstrated include: rifle ammunition calibers, the four types of gun carries, zones of fire.

Topics demonstrated include: the proper procedure to sight a gun.

A selected group of students demonstrates live firing from the prone position.

Each student completing the Shooting Education Course receives a certificate of completion.

Each student receives a wallet card.

Each student is called forward by name to receive their certificate and awards.

Students who scored highest on the written test and shooting phase have qualified for BB gun team tryouts.

A score sheet with test and shooting results is prepared for posting and student-parent inspection.

Each student receives their corrected test and their target with the test.

Recommended team tryout size: select no fewer than seven and no more than twenty students.

Team tryout qualifiers are called forward and presented to the audience.

Qualified team members will meet to prepare for the State BB Gun Match.

Winning 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place at the State Match qualifies a team to represent their entire state at the Daisy National BB Gun Championship Match in Rogers, Arkansas.
