Scoring of Targets

Scoring of Targets
Rule L10.1Each ring of a target has a value. The 5 meter BB gun target has rings that range from 1 to 10 in value.
Rule L10.1Starting on the outside going toward the center, each ring is worth 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 and 10 points.
Rule L10.1The ring in which your BB strikes tells you what your score is for that shot.
Rule L10.1A shot hole, the leading edge of which comes in contact with the outside of the bullseye or scoring rings, is given the higher value.
Rule L10.1If a competitor fails to hit any target (shots outside the scoring ring), that shot will be scored as a miss (zero).
Rule L10.1A scoring gauge will be used to determine the value of close shots. The higher value is allowed when the flange of the gauge touches the scoring ring.
Rule L10.1When the BB gun outward scoring plug gauge is used, the higher value is awarded when the flange fails to touch the outside edge of the next scoring ring out.
Rule L10.1All shot holes with an estimated value greater than two shall be scored with an outward gauge.
Rule L10.1BB gun gauge for outside scoring: 0.421 to 0.423 inches. Air Rifle/BB gun gauge: 0.177 to 0.179 inches (used only for shot values of 1 and 2, and for center shots).

Use of a Sling
Rule L10.2To be a serious competitor, you must know how to properly use a sling. You cannot win a shooting competition which allows slings if you do not use and know how to use a sling.
Rule L10.2The purpose of the sling is to hold the gun in a steady position by attaching the sling to both your arm and around your hand that supports the gun forearm.
Rule L10.2To use the sling: Loosen the clasp and let the sling hang loose. Give the loop, formed by the clasp, a half turn before inserting the hand into the loop.
Rule L10.2Slide the loop up onto the arm and position it above the bicep muscle. Tighten the loop so that it does not slip.
Rule L10.2The left hand is swung over the sling. This basic sling position is used for three shooting positions (prone, sitting, kneeling).
Rule L10.2The sling while in use must be taut to be effective.
